FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
BUT WHAT ABOUT THE MOLD ON OUR BAMBOO HANDLES?
There is a small chance that bamboo handle gets moldy if not properly stored. However, we did everything we could to minimize the chance of that from happening. Our bamboo handles are covered in plant-based wax to prevent moisture from getting into the bamboo. You can also follow these steps to prevent mold:
-
Let bamboo dry in open air
-
Do not store in airtight containers
-
Avoid humid places to store
DO YOU REALLY WANT TO SWALLOW CHEMICALS TWICE A DAY?
Many plastic toothbrushes are toxic soups of chemicals. Using plastic toothbrushes can increase your chances of diseases like asthma, breast cancer or diabetes, as they contain phthalates, substances added to plastics to increase their flexibility, durability and longevity. It is estimated that phthalates may contribute to 107,000 premature deaths each year among people ages 55-64 in the USA alone.
TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE BAMBOO YOU ARE USING
The bamboo we are using is the fast growing Moso bamboo that is naturally anti-bacterial. It is harvested in the Jiangsu Province of China. We can guarantee that we are not stealing pandas food and that the bamboo is sustainably harvested through local farmers.
WHY ARE WE NOT USING BIODEGRADABLE TOOTHBRUSH BRISTLES?
Simply because there is no good alternative for the nylon bristle on the market. The other biodegradable options are not suitable for us. There is an option of using pig hair, which is not an option for us as we try to avoid animal-based products. We can also use bamboo or other plants fibers, but they are not durable. The leaf bristles are made from DuPont nylon. Please remove the bristles from the toothbrush handle before composting.
